Do-It-Yourself Lead Paint Removal

It could cost you thousands to hire a lead paint abatement firm, when you could do it yourself for a fraction of the cost.  LEAD-OUT® is very easy to use and is the safest lead paint removal method on the market.  You can remove lead paint from virtually any surface such as wood, brick, concrete, steel, iron, plaster, and other surfaces without creating hazardous lead dust.  You should educate yourself on lead safe work practices and read the instructions for LEAD-OUT® Paint Stripper.

I liked that I could remove the lead paint safely, and that there was very little paint dust created. The bare wood was exposed with one application, and it was not damaged. I've recommended LEAD-OUT® to many people.

We are all aware of the dangers of lead poisoning. The most common and harmful source of lead poisoning is lead dust from lead based paint. LEAD-OUT® is the safest, most effective solution to permanently remove lead paint, because it is a wet process that prevents lead dust and renders lead non-hazardous on contact. Do-it-yourself lead paint removal can be easy and safe with the right tools.

I used it on the fireplace mantle and door jamb throughout my house, and I liked the ease of application. I have used other lead paint strippers and the application was tedious and difficult. I would definitely use Lead-Out again.

Lead Test Kits

Lead Test Kits

Lead test kits bought at the hardward store or online can tell you if you have lead paint.  These kits, however, are not very accurate, and they will test positive even after the lead is rendered non-hazardous.

Lead is an element (Pb), and there is no way to get rid of it.  LEAD-OUT® turns hazardous lead into non-hazardous lead-sulfide, which is insoluble, unleachable, and inert.  Lead test kits you buy at the hardward store will test positive for any type of lead whether hazardous or non-hazardous.  Only an environmental diagnostic lab certified by the EPA to conduct TCLP Analysis can tell you if material contains hazardous lead or not.
